Why sell with UAG
Selling with us costs you nothing
There are no standard selling, listing, entry or commission charges. You receive 100% of the hammer price together with any applicable VAT.
There is no percentage coming off the top of what your assets make. The charges that fund the sale sit on the buyer's side of the invoice, on top of the hammer price, so what your lot makes is what reaches you.
That matters most on the assets you were least sure about. A machine that makes less than you hoped still makes it all, because there is no percentage coming off the top and no minimum to clear before you see anything.
Who bids on your lots
Trade buyers, dealers, contractors, operators, hauliers, farmers and exporters, bidding online from across the UK and overseas. Our sales are trade-only, so the people competing for your asset are businesses that intend to use or resell it.
A local trade sale reaches whoever happens to be nearby. An online sale reaches everyone who wants that machine, wherever they are, and competition between people who all want the same thing is what finds the price.
Overseas trade buyers are welcome to participate, and can bid on a UK asset without attending. On the categories where domestic demand is thin, that second market is often what makes the difference between a lot selling and a lot sitting.
Your stock never leaves your site until it sells
Lots are listed where they stand, from your own details and photographs. Nothing is moved, nothing goes into anyone else's yard, and nothing leaves until it is sold and paid for.
There is no transport bill before a sale and no storage bill during one. If a machine is still earning while the sale runs, it can keep earning. Any amendment or withdrawal must be agreed with UAG and remains subject to the agreed seller terms.
Listings are based on the details and photographs you supply, and we prepare and check each one before it goes live. We may amend, clarify or reject information to keep a listing accurate and compliant, so what goes in front of buyers is both your knowledge of the asset and a listing that stands up.

Auction, a dealer, or selling it privately?
All three work. They just suit different situations, and the honest answer depends on how many assets you have, how quickly you need them gone, and how much of the work you want to do yourself.
| Auction with us | Trade in to a dealer | Sell it privately | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it costs you | No standard selling, listing, entry or commission charges | Nothing directly, but the offer carries the dealer's margin | Your own advertising and your own time |
| Who sets the price | Competing bidders on the day | The dealer | You, then whoever negotiates you down |
| How long | A defined sale window with a known end date | Quick, once you accept | Open ended |
| Where the asset sits | Your site, until sold and paid for | Gone on collection | Your site, indefinitely |
| Who does the work | We list, market and settle it | The dealer | You |
| Getting paid | Before collection | On collection | Whenever the buyer pays |
| Suits | Several assets, a whole site, or anything where you want the market to set the price | One machine you are replacing with the same dealer | One asset, no deadline, and time to spare |
The case for auction is strongest when you have more than one asset, when there is a date you are working to, or when you want to be able to show what everything made and why. The case is weakest on a single low-value item, where the effort outweighs the difference.
You are paid before anything is collected
The buyer pays us in full by bank transfer. Payment reaches you ordinarily within 24 hours of the funds clearing, and collection is only authorised after that.
The order matters. Your asset does not leave your site on the strength of a promise, and you are not chasing a buyer for money on something they already have. By the time anyone arrives to load a machine, it has been paid for.
For a business winding down, or an estate that cannot carry a debtor, that sequence is usually the deciding factor rather than the price.
A record of what everything made
You get a settlement report lot by lot: what each asset sold for, what was invoiced and what was paid, so the schedule reconciles line by line rather than arriving as one net figure.
Alongside it you get the marketing record and the bidding activity each lot attracted, which shows how the assets were exposed and that real competition took place.
Any owner finds that useful at the end of a year. For an administrator, a receiver or a liquidator it is the point of the exercise, and we cover that side separately in asset disposal for administrators and receivers.
Who we sell for
Owners clearing surplus, businesses replacing a fleet, traders and dealers turning stock, and the administrators, receivers and insolvency practitioners handling a closure. One machine or a whole site.
Owners and operators
Surplus after a job, a machine you have replaced, plant standing idle, or the contents of a unit you are giving up. You keep working while it sells.
Traders and dealers
Stock that has sat too long and is costing you yard space and money. Listing it puts it in front of UK and overseas buyers at once, with no standard selling, listing, entry or commission charges.
Administrators and receivers
A documented realisation on a timetable, with lot-by-lot reporting. More on insolvency disposals.
Worth a conversation?
Tell us what you have and we will tell you what we think it will do. There are no standard selling, listing, entry or commission charges, and nothing is committed until terms are agreed.
Send a list or a description, with photographs if you have them, and let us know if you are working to a date. We will confirm whether auction is the right route for those assets and give you a realistic read on interest.
If you want the mechanics first, how selling with us works goes through it step by step.
